Torbryan is an ancient farming hamlet nestled in the heart of the South Devon countryside between Dartmoor and the South Devon coast. We are rural, but not remote: Totnes, a thriving small town known for its alternative lifestyles is a short drive away, as is Newton Abbot, a market town offering a range of shops, restaurants and supermarkets. Also close at hand is Dartington Hall, a grade 1 listed estate housing a cinema, concert venue and gardens. As well as being home to the famous Dartington summer music festival, the venue hosts exhibitions, art classes, music events and more. The surrounding villages all have character and a good pub with food! The Sea Trout at Staverton has a varied menu and is spacious enough for larger groups, the Coppa Dolla at Broadhempston is famous for home baked pies and The Tally Ho at Littlehempston deservedly won CAMRA pub of the year for 2022. The atmospheric bar at the Old Church House must also not be forgotten!
Within easy reach of us are some great beaches including Salcombe, Torquay and Blackpool Sands. The port of Dartmouth is also close by-with special boat and steam train services making the trip. The great open spaces of Dartmoor are also close at hand, offering easy walks and moorland towns, or more rugged terrain- whatever suits your group.
